5. Contracting authority: Department of State for Works, Construction and
Infrastructure, Banjul, Gambia.
6. Nature of contract: Fee-based service contract for technical
assistance to the National Roads Authority for works supervision.
7. Contract description: The technical assistance contract aims at
assisting the contracting authority (Department of State for Works,
Construction and Infrastructure) and the supervising authority (National
Roads Authority) for the on-the-spot supervision of the road works and for
the contracts' administration and management, thus assuring a timely and
proper technical, administrative and financial execution of the works. The
works contract provides for periodic maintenance, rehabilitation and
upgrading of a considerable part of the regional trunk roads in the Gambia
and Senegal, to that end, the consultant shall provide a supervision team
for the performance period of the works (around 24 months), which will be
well adapted to the supervising requirements, based on the contractors'
plans for the execution of the works.

11. Legal basis: EDF: ACP-EC Partnership Agreement signed at Cotonou on
23.6.2000 as amended on 25.6.2005 and in 2008 (Annex IV).
