II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The Scottish
Prison Services (SPS) is an Agency of the Scottish Government Justice
Department and currently operates prison sites across Scotland (see
www.sps.gov.uk and click on Prisons for a prison map and a list of all
addresses). The SPS wishes to contract out the provision of treatment of
timber services for SPS Prison Industries. The objective of this tender
exercise is to identify a suitable Supplier for the SPS to work with to
satisfy their requirements. Prospective suppliers will be required to
detail proposals of how viable timber treatment services could be provided
while satisfying the minimum requirements detailed in the ITT. Tenderers
are invited to indicate the type of services which could be offered.

II.2.1) Total quantity or scope: Based on Previous expenditure, annual
expenditure is between GBP 30 000 and GBP 40 000 per annum.
Estimated value excluding VAT:
Range: between 30 000 and 40 000 GBP.
II.2.2) Options: Yes.
Description of these options: It is the intention of the SPS that any
resulting Contract(s) will commence on 1.8.2009 for a period of 2 years
with the option to extend for up to a further 2 years (2 + 1 + 1).

1) SHORT DESCRIPTION: The SPS reserves the right to split the award into
2 lots based on supplier capacity to manage the required pallet sizes
within the treatment tanks. Lot (a) will be based on a pallet size of 1
250 x 1 000 mm and lot (b) will be based on a pallet size of 1 350 x 1 350
mm.
