| Description | (a) The Department requires professional film production services to produce broadcast quality videos of the recipients of the Prime Minister's Prizes for Science, highlighting their achievements and reasons for award. Each video would be filmed on-site at the recipient's place of work, providing an important context for the audience and enhancing video content. Each video clip will feature the recipient explaining in his or her own words the nature of the work for which the relevant Prize is being awarded. This will require the professional assistance of a science communications consultant, for which the Department is separately tendering for 2009 and 2010. The successful tenderer will be required to work collaboratively with the science communications consultant in the production of the videos. The Department is tendering for the services of a further event management consultancy to ensure the effective and professional delivery of the science prizes awards event. As part of that consultancy, the Department will be requiring high quality audiovisual footage of speeches by Ministers and recipients, and of aspects of the event. This footage will be provided to the successful tenderer for the services described in this RFT. The Department will require the production of a further video in which the interviews of recipients are combined with footage of the awards event. (b) We will require the successful tenderer to make versions of all videos available in various formats, suitable for use by professional bodies, the general public and media services. (c) The production services sought would be for the two years 2009 and 2010. Contracted work for each year is expected to start around July / August (consequent on Ministerial approval of recommended recipients) and must be completed at least one week prior to the awards event, which is normally held in October. (d) The Department's requirements are set out in more detail in Schedule 1. (e) Any contract entered into as a result of this RFT will be based on the Draft Form of Contract. However, the Department may vary the terms and conditions (see clause 26(a)). |
