II.1) TITLE ATTRIBUTED TO THE CONTRACT BY THE CONTRACTING AUTHORITY: The
Provision of a Statutory Social Work Service for the British Forces in the
UKSC(G) Geographical Area of Responsibility and Other Overseas Locations.
II.2) TYPE OF CONTRACT AND PLACE OF DELIVERY OR OF PERFORMANCE: Services.

II.3) SHORT DESCRIPTION OF NATURE AND QUANTITY OR VALUE OF SUPPLIES OR
SERVICES: It is the Ministry of Defence (MOD) policy to replicate in the
United Kingdom Support Command (Germany) (UKSC(G)) and other overseas
locations wherever practicable, the statutory social work provision
available to the UK civil population through Local Authority Social
Service Departments. It is committed to the provision of high quality care
to the service community.
Such provision will involve the promoting of the welfare of children and
families in accordance with the Children Act 1989 by providing a range and
level of services as appropriate. Additionally there will be a requirement
to co-operate with other agencies that are engaged in activities in
relation to children in need, adoption and the care of vulnerable adults.
The service provided must satisfy the requirements laid down in the UK
National Minimum Standards and other good practice guidelines applicable
to children’s services authorities, adult social services authorities and
voluntary adoption agencies in England and Wales.
At this stage UKSC(G) is investigating all available options for the
future provision of the services detailed above. To this end, UKSC(G) is
seeking to hold exploratory ‘without commitment’ discussions with
potential suppliers to explore such issues as the overall feasibility of
any potential requirement for the provision of safeguarding children and
vulnerable adults. Any information provided or discussed during such
exploratory discussions will be treated as commercial-in-confidence.
The release of this Possible Future Purchase announcement is not to be
construed as confirmation that a tender/contract will subsequently be
issued. Any expenditure, work or effort undertaken prior to any potential
contract award is accordingly a matter solely for the commercial judgement
of potential suppliers.
