Provide all labor, materials, tools, equipment supervision necessary to complete Project 521-327, Mental Health Improvements, at VA Medical Center, 700 South 19th Street, Birmingham, Alabama 35233, in accordance with plans and specifications. Contractor shall completely prepare site for building operations, including demolition and removal of existing structures as shown on contract documents, and perform work for construction of a four floor addition to the existing VA Medical Center. Work includes general construction, alterations, walks, grading, drainage, mechanical and electrical work, utility systems, necessary removal of existing structures and construction and certain other items identified within the contract documents and as indicated on the construction drawings. The estimated dollar value of construction is between $5,000,000.00 and $10,000,000.00. Estimated solicitation issue date is on or about December 18, 2008, with an estimated bid opening date of January 18, 2008. The National American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 236220 for this procurement with a size standard of $33.5 million. This solicitation is set aside for veteran-owned small businesses. There will be a pre-bid walk through of the project and it is highly recommended that any contractor wishing to bid on this project should attend the walk through. The pre-bid walk through time and location will be addressed in the solicitation. All solicitation packages will be available for downloading from the website www.fedbizopps.gov . No hard copies of the solicitation will be provided. The drawings will be issued on CD on a first come first serve basis only to prime contractors; no drawings will be issued to subcontractors. Only twenty (20) CDs of drawings will be issued. All requests for drawings and/or questions regarding this solicitation must be submitted in writing to Tracy Riley, Contract Specialist (521/10N7NLO), Birmingham VA Medical Center, 700 S. 19th Street, Birmingham, AL 35233 or by e-mail to tracy.riley2@va.gov. Please submit your request no later than December 17, 2008. It is highly recommended that you complete the solicitation mailing list on the website before downloading the solicitation.
