MORUPULE “B” GENERATION AND ASSOCIATED TRANSMISSION PROJECT

GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE

The Government of Botswana has applied for financing from Multinational and Development Banks including the World Bank toward the cost of the Morupule “B” Generation and associated Transmission Project. The Government of Botswana intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project.

The associated transmission project components include the following:

1. 2 x 315MVA 400/220kV Power Transformers.
2. 400kV line Morupule “B” to Phokoje (105km), including OPGW.
3. Morupule to Isang 400kV line (215km), including OPGW.
4. Isang 400/220KV Substation and 220kv lines (2) 220 kV Tee-Ins at Isang Substation.
5. Reactive Power Compensation equipment.
6. Consultancy Services for Power System Harmonic Study.
7. Consultancy Services for Control Area Establishment (AGC).
8. Training for Power System Operators.

Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits (current edition), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dgMarket and in the local newspapers.

Prequalification of suppliers and contractors will be required for the following contracts:

1. Supply, installation and commissioning of Morupule B to Phokoje 400kV transmission line;
2. Supply, installation and commissioning of Morupule B to Isang 400kV transmission line.
3 Supply, installation and commissioning of the Isang 400/220kV Substation and Associated 220kV lines Tee-Ins.
 Supply, erection and commissioning of Reactive Power Compensation equipment.

Interested eligible bidders who wish to be included on the mailing list to receive invitations to prequalify/bid under ICB procedures, and interested consultants who wish to receive a copy of advertisement requesting expressions of interest for consultancy contracts, or those requiring additional information, should contact the address below.
