The Bureau seeks to acquire wind profiler systems beginning in 2008-09, for eight Bureau-selected geographical locations in Australia, with the possibility of acquiring a further four to replace existing Bureau Boundary Layer Profiler systems as they reach the end of their operational life. The requirements for the initial eight sites fall into two broad categories: Monitoring low-level winds (to 3000m) at four sites, and Monitoring both low and high-level winds (to 16km) at the other four sites.
Other requirements include: - Winds below 5 km should be obtained with a height resolution of at least 150 m. Winds above this must have a height resolution of 500 m or better.
- Time resolution for quality controlled average wind measurements should be selectable from at least 15 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour.
The Bureau also seeks a supplier (or suppliers) to establish, to the satisfaction of the Bureau, a reliable and cost effective ongoing program of maintenance and repair for the supplied profilers that is integrated with the Bureau's existing maintenance framework, either by: · Defining and implementing a maintenance and repair program to be operated by the Bureau, including the provision of documentation, training, test equipment, and spares; or · Providing a full contracted maintenance service, renewable for the life of the system. The Bureau intends to decide which of these options to pursue after taking into account responses received. |
