II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The contractor
shall draw a clear picture of the current situation of European SMEs in
the defence sector. He shall identify the challenges and gaps for European
SMEs in the defence sector. The contractor shall recommend some measures
which should be undertaken on a national as well as on a European basis to
improve the competitiveness of SMEs and better distribute defence
businesses in Europe. In addition, the contractor shall make some
suggestions on how SMEs can contribute in the European industrial
landscape (niche capacities of SMEs, highly-innovative enterprises,
centres of excellence).
