Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ministry of Tourism andAntiquities Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Urban DevelopmentProject Project ID 081823 GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE The Hashemite Kingdom ofJordan received a loan fromthe World Bank toward the cost of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Urban Development Project (CHTUDP),and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procuredunder this project. The objectives of the projectare to contribute to: (a) tourism development in five historically and culturally important secondary cities ofJarash, Karak,Madaba, Salt and Ajloun, and therebycreate the conditions for local economic development; and (b) consolidation of the tourismindustry in Petra, Jordan's premier tourism asset and destination. The project includes thefollowing components (a) revitalization ofHistoric City centers, urban infrastructure improvements and culturallandscapesregeneration in and around the historic coresof Jarash, Karak, Madaba, Salt and Ajloun (the Project Municipalities#PMs); (b) PetraGateway including the construction of a new VisitorsCenter at the Petra Sanctuary; (c) Local Economic Development to providefinancialand technical supports to local entrepreneurs, investors and community groups to encourage the creation and/or expansionof environmentallyappropriate and financially viable small and medium enterprises in the civic core areas; and (d) capacitybuilding and project management services. Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank is and will be conductedthrough the procedures as specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loansand IDA Credits (current edition),and is open to all eligible bidders as defined inthe guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the WorldBank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
