This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business no. 611 of 31 July 2003.

The Ministry of Territorial Adjustment and Tourism of Albania (the Ministry) has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Albania Municipal Water and Wastewater Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds toward payments under the contract for the FIER, KAFARAJ WELL EHABILATION

Berlinwasser International AG (the Private Operator), acting on behalf of the Water Companies of Durrës, Fier, Lezhë and Sarandë now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the FIER, KAFARAJ WELL EHABILATION; Contract No.WF8.3, for the Water Companies of Durrës, Fier, Lezhë and Sarandë.

The works are consisting of:

• Rehabilitation and upgrading of approx. 5.500 m of existing overhead line from 6 to 20 kV

• Provision and installation of five new transformers 6/20 kV to 0,4 kV

• Construction of well pump stations and ancillary buildings

• Installation of five well pumps incl. electrical- and control installation

• Construction of a new operation and chlorination building at Kafaraj old pump station area

• Connection of existing well pipes to DCI transmission 800 mm

• Provision and installation of an automatic chlorination, re-location of surge tank equipment

• Refurbishing of operation room at Koshevica reservoir area, installation of two level controls

• Provision of three motorised valves at main distribution junction and on pressure control

• Installation and transmission of control to Fier Water Company main office

The construction period is 15 months.

Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, ( January 1995 (revised January and August 1996, September 1997 and January 1999), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines.

Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents from Berlinwasser International AG acting on behalf of the Water Companies of Durrës, Fier, Lezhë and Sarandë at the address below during office hours, i.e. 0900 to 16 30 hours. A complete set of bidding documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of EUR 150 or its equivalent in Albanian Lekë. The method of payment will be direct Transfer to Tirana Bank, Durrës Branch, Account of Durlin Water sh.p.k, account No. 0110-302060-102 for deposit in Albanian Lekë and account No. 0110-302060-101 for deposit in Euro. The document will be sent by courier service.

Bids must be delivered to the address below by 12:00 a.m. local time on 18th of June 2007. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security minimum of 2% of the contract price - or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency, and be delivered to the address below by 12:00 a.m. local time on 18th of June 2007. Bids will be opened immediately thereafter, in the presence of bidders’ representatives, who choose to attend, at the address below at 12:00 a.m. local time on 18th of June 2007. Late bids will be rejected.
