1.This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business of 27th May 2003. .

2.The Federal Government of Nigeria has received a credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of Ekiti State Health System Development Project II, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the Contract for the supply of medical equipment and furniture.

3.The Ekiti State Health System Development Project II now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for the supply of medical equipment and furniture as specified below and in the schedule of requirements:

Lot 1 : Furniture for OPD & Wards; bid security is NGN700,000 or USD 5,200

Lot 2 : Equipment for OPD, Theatres & Delivery Suites; bid security is NGN 590,000 or USD4,400

Lot 3: Instruments/Linens for OPD, Theatres & Delivery Suites; bid security is NGN 370,000 or USD 2,700;

Lot 4 : Equipment for X Ray Department; bid security is NGN 420,000 or USD 3,100

Lot 5 : Instruments for Specialty Surgery; bid security is NGN 340,000 USD 2,500

Lot 6 : Equipment for Dental Department ; bid security is NGN 260,000 or USD1,900

Medical Equipment and Furniture shall be delivered at the Medical Stores, Ado Ekiti no later than 120 days from the award of contract(s). Bidders may bid for any one or more lots and discounts offered for the award of combined lots would be considered in bid evaluation.

4.Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Project office and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below between 9 am till 4 pm (Mondays – Fridays) Local time.

6.Qualifications requirements include technical, financial, legal and other requirements. A margin of preference for eligible national contractors shall be applied. Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.

7.A complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written Application to the address below and upon payment of a non refundable fee of N15,000 . The method of payment will be by bank draft. The Bidding Documents will be delivered by hand to the bidder’s representative or by courier services on the request of the bidder.

8.Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 23rd March 2006 at 1 p.m. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below at 1 p.m. on 23rd March 2006. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security as specified in the table above and in the bid document.

There will be a Pre-Bid opening meeting on Tuesday 20th February 2006, at 12.00 p.m., at the Conference Room, HSDP II Project Office 3, Anisulowo Street, GRA, Ado Ekiti.
