General Procurement Notice

Credit No. 3076

The Government of Egypt has received a credit from the International
Development Association in the amount of USD 90,000,000 equivalent
toward the cost of the Health Sector Reform Project, and it intends to
apply the proceeds of this credit to payments for goods, works,
related services and consulting services to be procured under this
project. Bidding for contracts financed by the International
Development Association will be governed by the procurement rules of
the World Bank.

The project will support (a) the provision of universal access to a
basic package of Primary Health Care (PHC) services; and (b) reform of
the Health Insurance Organization (HIO).

The project will include the following goods, works and services:

- I Consultancy Services
- II. Goods
- Medical and laboratory equipment (Medical and laboratory
devices, optical and precision devices, watches and clocks,
pharmaceuticals and related medical consumables)
- Medical equipment supplies (Biomedical equipment)
- Non Medical Equipment and Supplies (Non-medical equipment based
on the use of radiations)
- Medical and Non Medical Furniture (Furniture)
- Computers, (hardware, software, networks, accessories) (Computer
equipment and supplies)
- Office Supplies (Office supplies)
- Vehicles (Motor vehicles)
- III. Civil Works
- Construction, demolition and renovation of health facilities
(Construction work for buildings relating to health)

Prequalification may be required for some contracts.

Procurement of contracts financed by the credit will be conducted
through the procedures specified in Procurement under IBRD Loans and
IDA Credits[1] of the World Bank, and is open to all bidders from
eligible source countries as defined in the guidelines. Consulting
services will be selected in accordance with Selection and Employment
of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers[2] of the World Bank.

This general procurement notice updates the notice published in
Development Business, no. 493 (Article ref. WB896-493/98) of 31 August
, 1998 and General Procurement Notice of 31 August, 2001 in El
Gomhoria newspaper and of 1 September, 2001. Al - Ahram newspaper.

Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under
international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures will be announced,
as they become available, in the Development Gateway Market.
