This is a sources sought notice for information and acquisition planning purposes. This is not a Request For Proposal and a formal solicitation is not available at this time. Southwest Regional Maintenance Center (SWRMC) is seeking vendors that can provide repair and maintenance for Torpedo Weapons Retriever (TWR), and motor-generators and similar equipment for other small boats and crafts in the San Diego region. Vendor must have the ability to provide Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) parts/material to support TWR repair and maintenance. OEM is Caterpillar Inc.. In addition, vendors repair technicians must be trained and have experience in repairing specified equipment. The vendor must have direct access to OEM proprietary drawings, technical information and factory product updates and revisions to support repairs and maintenance. The following Allowance Parts Lists (APLs) are applicable for the TWR proposed equipment: Main Engine APL: 664810115, Transmission APL: 694090004 and Motor-Generators APL: 664810117 and 161360009. In addition, the following APLs are applicable for other small boats and crafts: Diesel Engine (Bow Thruster) APL: 66A050010i and Diesel Engine Generator Set APL: 16A050007i. Work to be accomplished at the contractors facility or naval facility. SWRMC is contemplating an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity firm-fixed price contract. The applicable NAICS code is 336611 Ship Building and Repair. Interested contractors should submit a capabilities statement (not to exceed five pages) that demonstrates their capability to perform the services described herein. The capabilities statement shall include company name, address, small business status (small, small disadvantaged, women-owned, HUBZone, veteran-owned, or service-disabled veteran-owned), and point of contact (POC) information for the interested firm. The capabilities statement should identify, by contract number, past or current contracts and/or su bcontracts that were awarded to your firm, period of performance, contract type, contract amount, a description of the relevant corporate experience gained, and a customer POC. This is an amendment to a previously published market survey synopsis. The purpose of this amendment is to revise the applicable NAICS code from 336611 Ship Building and Repair to NAICS code 811310 Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance and to extend the due date for responses from 24 April 2008 to 30 April 2008.

The purpose of this amendment is to reinstate the facility requirement. Contractor's facility must be located in San Diego County to accommodate required check points conducted by the Navy. A firm need not have such a facility when it submits its proposal, but it must be able to have it in time for performance.
