The Macroeconomics Policy, Forecasting and Research Department (ECMR) of the African Development Bank (AfDB) is undertaking a comprehensive and rigorous study to understand African agricultural sector and address some policy-oriented empirical questions. Through the “Structural Transformation of African Agriculture and Rural Spaces – STAARS” Project, multi-year (2014-2019) collaboration between ECMR, Cornell University, Partnership for Economic Policy, African Economic Research Consortium, and the World Bank, the Research Department envisages to sharpen African governments’ food security policy and promote the bank’s development agenda on structural transformation of agriculture, specifically the “Feed Africa” agenda of the High Fives, through rigorous and empirically-driven research; capacity building, and dissemination and policy outreach activities
Tasks of the Consultant:
Under the overall guidance of the Division Manager, and the immediate supervision of the task manager, the Consultant will perform the following tasks:
Support the preparation and dissemination of knowledge materials from the STAARS research through various media. This includes, but not limited to, the preparation of short and creative pamphlets, posters, infographics, texts, video, etc. with a focus on non-technical audiences.
Disseminate the knowledge products online through the STAARS website, social media, etc; through knowledge events within and outside the bank.
Assist in documenting the events for record-keeping and for reporting to the STAARS’ Management team, partners, and the general public range of the STAARS’ knowledge and communication products, including working papers, economic briefs, journal articles and other publications. Tasks include research, drafting texts, proofreading, correcting, correspondence with partners inside and outside of the Bank, and occasional translations, among others. Provide logistical support and administrative and technical assistance in preparing and organizing various knowledge sharing events, including events at the Bank’s Headquarters, regional dissemination events, conferences and workshops on STAARS.
Assist in the preparation of documentations, briefing notes, announcements, update of materials for the website, and other materials as required (in both English and French); handle correspondence with partners, invitees and other participants to STAARS’ events.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Division Manager
