3A- EN Watershed Management (SIP) operates in Africa.
The development objective of the Eastern Nile Watershed Management Project for Africa is to increase the adoption by the Eastern Nile countries of sustainable land and water management practices in selected micro-watersheds in the Eastern Nile Basin. There are three components to the project. The first component of the project is community watershed management. The objective of this component is to promote wider adoption of sustainable land and water management practices and technologies, to reduce land degradation and increase agricultural productivity. The second component of the project is knowledge for cooperative action. The objective of this component is to strengthen the knowledge base and human resource capacity for cooperative action on watershed management in the Eastern Nile Basin. The third component of the project is project management. This component is aimed at providing technical and capacity building assistance and incremental operating costs to support project implementation.
