Reform and Privatisation of Public Enterprises. National Commission for Privatisation operates in Sierra Leone.
The NCP was established under an Act of Parliament, 2002, to oversee and manage the reform and privatisation of public enterprises listed in the First Schedule of the Act. The objectives of the Act include (a) to enable the public sector to focus on the efficient delivery of basic services to the poor, especially in rural areas; (b) to allow wider private sector participation and thereby enhance economic opportunities, increase economic growth and provide jobs to address unemployment in Sierra Leone; and (c) to remove the fiscal burden imposed by non-performing public enterprises on the government budget.
