AR-Cordoba-Road Infrastructure operates in Argentina.
The Argentina Provincial Road Infrastructure Project aims to improve the reliability of the Province's road sector assets and the efficiency of their management as a means to support the Province's competitiveness and economic growth, by building up institutional capacity to encourage efficient planning policies and adequate resource allocation for the rehabilitation and maintenance of the core provincial road network. Component 1, Institutional Strengthening, consists of three subcomponents: (1) Institutional strengthening of Cordoba's Agency for Investment Financing (ACIF)in areas such as financial and debt management, project programming and monitoring, information reporting, among others. The project will help design and implement activities geared to developing a performance-based management system, and connecting the ACIF's monitoring and evaluation system with sector planning and budget decisions as well as project audits; (2) Institutional strengthening of the Ministry of Finance: This subcomponent involves activities related to coordination structures, information systems, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building in the financial administration sector of the Ministry of Finance. This sub-component will include activities in three areas: (a) the financial aggregation of public expenditures; (b) a methodology for evaluation of the fiscal impact of contingent liabilities resulting from claims against the Province in the administrative instance within the infrastructure sector, increasing the Ministry's response capacity; and (c) strengthening the budget formulation process. (3) Road network management and road safety: Component 2, Road Rehabilitation and Maintenance, focuses on overcoming a backlog of deferred maintenance on prioritized sections of the provincial primary network, especially in the South-East part of the Province. The component entails carrying out rehabilitation and maintenance works of about 424 km in three sub networks, through three performance-based contracts. Component 3, Road Paving, supports paving investments on selected segments of the Province's road network that are crucial for provincial productivity. I The road paving program consists of six contracts for a total length of 174.26 km. The works under each contract include paving of a road section, with traffic volumes ranging from 300 to 650 vehicles per day with signs of significant distress and high maintenance costs.
