ET-Tana &Beles Int. Wat Res Dev Project operates in Ethiopia.
The development objective of the Tana and Beles Integrated Water Resources Development Project for Ethiopia is to develop enabling institutions and investments for integrated planning, management, and development in the Tana and Beles Sub-basins to accelerate sustainable growth. The Federal Republic of Ethiopia has submitted a formal request (attached separately) for extension of the current legal covenant delineated in the financing agreement, namely an extension for the establishment of the Beles Sub-Basin Organization (BeSBO) until December 31, 2010. Currently the project is noncompliant to legal covenant due to delays in establishment of the BeSBO. This paper seeks to amend the date of establishment of BeSBO from the December 31, 2009 as stated in the current financing agreement to December 31, 2010 to allow for the implementing agency (Ministry of Water Resources) to complete the activities associated with establishment of BeSBO.
