1. This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. 626 of 16TH March 2004

2. The Government of Grenada has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development and a Credit from the International Development Association toward the cost of The OECS Education Development Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this loan and credit to payments under the contract for Furniture for use in Secondary Schools (GDICBG:01).

3. The Project Management Unit Ministry of Education now invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for Furniture for use in Secondary Schools by staff and students.

4. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding Procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents at the address given in (i) below: from 8.30 am to 3.45 pm Monday to Friday.

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address given at (i) below upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of EC$270.00 or US$100.00. Prospective tenderers are required to pay this nonrefundable fee into the Ministry of Education’s Account at The Bank of Nova Scotia, Halifax St. St. George’s. A receipt will be issued by the bank and it is to be taken to the address given at (i) below before the document can be collected from that same address. The document will be sent by courier to prospective tenderers from overseas.

7. Tenders must be delivered to the address given in (ii) below at or before 3.00 pm (15.00 hrs) on 23 June 2004. All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of US$ 1500.00. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders’ representatives who choose to attend at the address given at (ii) below commencing at 3.00pm on the date set for receipt of tenders.
