HASHEMITE KINGDOM OF JORDAN
AMMAN DEVELOPMENT CORRIDOR PROJECT
(Transport Infrastructure)
GENERAL PROCUREMENT NOTICE
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan has applied for financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Amman Development Corridor project (ADCP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds to payments for goods, works, related services and consulting services to be procured under this project. This project will be jointly financed by the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development (AFSED) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
The project will include the following components : (a) constructing Phase 1 of the Amman Ring Road (41.0 km), which would be divided into three sections; (b) relocating the Amman Customs Depot to the ADC area ; (c) developing access infrastructure and utility services for and Inland Port and transport logistics facilities in the proximity of the relocated Customs Depot; (d) supporting the creation of an entity to promote, coordinate and guide urban and industrial development within the ADC area; and (e) providing project management and oversight services during project implementation.
International competitive bidding will be used for the contracting of civil works (construction of a 41 km limited access dual 2 lane highway). Consultants for project management services and construction supervision services will be selected and engaged in accordance with the World Bank guidelines. Invitations of proposals for consulting services are expected to be issued during the first quarter of 2004. Invitations for pre-qualification of contractors will also be issued during the first quarter of 2004. International bids for civil works will be invited from prequalified contractors during the second quarter of 2004.
Procurement of contracts financed by the World Bank will be conducted through the procedures as specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits (current edition), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in the guidelines. Consulting services will be selected in accordance with the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).
Specific procurement notices for contracts to be bid under the World Bank’s international competitive bidding (ICB) procedures and for contracts for consultancy services will be announced, as they become available, in UN Development Business and dgMarket.
Prequalification of contractors will be required for road construction works (construction of a 41 km limited access dual 2 lane highway)
