Assignment Overview

Assignment Title: PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTOR EDUCATION & COMMITMENT BUILDING FOR IMPROVED NUTRITION

Assignment Description

The consulting services include specific country-level actions to help initiate and sustain the political commitment and institutional reforms needed to make progress on nutrition. The main purpose is to gain traction and further the dialogue on nutrition in selected countries and so prepare the way for further government action and improved effectiveness of Bank lending. The services will include technical assistance, educational outreach and training workshops to support achievement of results. The services will also include stakeholder meetings, and innovative tools to increase the knowledge and benefits of public-private partnerships (PPP) for improved nutrition; and improve attitudes toward PPPs by client countries’ decision makers across sectors, through dissemination of best practices, regional exchanges, and fostering of public-private sector dialogues to agree on what each is able and willing to do, and how to deliver improved results through partnerships and an integrated strategy. The services provided will also document, analyze, and disseminate country experiences, to provide lessons for others on "how" to do this. Program activities will concentrate on two to three countries from South Asia, Africa, and Latin America, with results on best practices and lessons learned that can be applied to other countries. The services will be conducted in close collaboration and consultation with key development partners in this area. The services will be fully implemented by June 30, 2009.


The World Bank now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

Funding Source:

The World Bank intends to finance the assignment/services described herein under a under a trust fund from the Bank Netherlands Partnership Program.

Eligibility:
There are no eligibility restrictions.

Individual/Firm Profile:
The consultant will be a firm or consortium.

Submission Requirements:
The World Bank now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services.  Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).  Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

Interested consultants are hereby invited to submit expressions of interest.

Expressions of Interest should be submitted, in English, electronically through World Bank Group eConsultant http://www.worldbank.org/wbgeconsultant.

Consultants will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the current edition of the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Use of Consultants By the World Bank For Operational Purposes.

Following this invitation for Expression of Interest, a shortlist of qualified firms will be formally invited to submit proposals. Shortlisting and selection will be subject to the availability of funding.
