The Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) throughthe Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA) has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA) and theGovernment of Norway, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit and of this Grant to payments under the contractfor the rehabilitation of approximately 60.0km of M9 Hook Bridge-Lufupa Road and Chunga Airstrip in the Kafue NationalPark. The Zambia National Tender Board, on behalf of the Zambia Wildlife Authority, now invites sealed bids fromeligible and qualified applicants for the rehabilitation of approximately 60km of M9 Hook Bridge-Lufupa Road and Chunga Airstrip inKafue National Park over a construction period of 12 months. The scope of works in this contract includes, but is not limited to, the following:
(a) formation construction; (b) sub-grade construction; (c) gravel wearing course construction; (d) installation of pipe and box culverts; and (e) ancillary road works. Qualification requirements are included in the bidding documents and include:
(a) constitution or legal status of applicant; (b) annual amounts of similar construction works performed during the last 3 years of not less thanZMK16,000,000,000.00; and (c) at least three (3) works of similar nature performed as a prime contractor over the last 5 years. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the WorldBank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countriesas defined in the Bidding Documents. A margin of preference of 7.5% for eligible nationalcontractors/joint ventures shall be applied. There shall be a pre-bidding meeting which will be held on Friday, 12 October, 2008 at 09:00hours on site at the Hook-Bridge on the M9 Road. The Bidder, at the bidder's own responsibility and risk, is encouraged to visitand examine the siteof works and its surroundings and obtain all information that may be necessary for preparing the bid andentering into a contract for construction of the works.
