II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Coillte
Nurseries are seeking expressions of interest for all or part of the
contract production of an annual 6 800 000 rooted Sitka spruce cuttings
for the period 2009 to 2011.
Coillte Nurseries is a division of Coillte Teoranta – the Irish Forestry
Board – which sells and distributes some 35 000 000 forest plants in both
Irish and export markets each year.
As part of its annual production, Coillte Nurseries expects to root in
excess of 6 800 000 improved Sitka spruce cuttings each year to meet
demand from existing customers. Coillte Nurseries wishes to open up
competitive dialogue with interested parties who may wish to:
1. be part of a panel who will openly tender for the annual harvest of
cuttings from existing hedge orchards,
2. be part of a panel who will openly tender for the annual rooting of
cuttings as a pre-cursor to field transplanting,
3. provide suitable infrastructure for rooted cutting production as part
of a medium/long-term package of work.
