1) The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka has received a grant from the World Bank towards the cost of Education Sector Development Framweork Program and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the Contract for Procurement of vehicles.
2) The Chairman Ministry Procurement Committee on behalf of the Ministry of Education now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders to Procure One 4 wheel drive double Cab, and One passenger Van for Education Sector Development Programme, Bidders may quote any line item in the table given below
3) Bidding will be conducted through National Competitive Bidding (NCB)
4) Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from Procurement Cell, Ministry of Education, Tel: 0112784436, 0112784813 and inspect the Bidding Documents (free pf charge) at the Procurement Cell, Ministry of Education, "Isurupaya", 3rd Floor, Battaramulla.(from 09.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. hours on all working days till 10.10.2008.
5) Qualification requirements include: Offered items to be brand new and local agents should maintain ample spare parts, after .sale's service. Also vehicle manufacture should possess ISO 9001 : 2000, or equivalent Certificates! Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.
6) A complete set of Bidding Documents in English language may be purchased up to 10.10.2008 by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below on their business letterhead and upon payment of a non refundable fee of Sri Lankan Rupees Two Thousand (Rs. 2000.00). The method of payment will be in cash or bank draft drawn in favour of ''The Secretary, Ministry of Education". Bidders wanting to obtain Bid document! through courier shall furnish an additional payment of Rs. 300.00. However Ministry of Education shall not be responsible for any delay in transit.
7) Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 2.00 p.m. on 13.10.2008. Late' bids will be rejected and will be returned unopened. Bids will be opened in the presence of the Bidders' representatives who choose to attend in person. All bids must be accompanied by a "Bid Security", of Sri Lankan Rupees valid up to 31.12.2008.
