The objective of this program focuses on developing novel technologies to provide protection and mitigation from: high power microwave (HPM) sources; aircraft lightning strikes; high voltage electrostatic discharges (ESDs) on satellite structures; as well as the passive detection and direction determination of HPM threats to enable: the operation of electronics in a harsh radio frequency (RF) environment, and the ability to allow for operation of personnel in an HPM environment. The successful proposals will include a research team that identifies a useful technology, validates the performance of the technology, and demonstrates the ability to produce the technology for one of the key research areas listed below.
