The radiation characteristics in terms of spectral match, homogeneity over the test plane and angular incidence distribution must be well known to allow comparison with detailed simulation results. Provision of a cold sky condition to prevent excessive IR radiation is essential. To allow accurate collector characterization for a range of ambient conditions radiation intensity should be both controlled and variable and a range of wind velocities in the solar collector test plane should be provided.
