PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Three tasks for maintenance of hiking trails on the Chattahoochee National Forest. Separate awards may be made. Task 1. Mountaintown trail, 2.78 miles. Reshape tread and existing dips, construct new dips, install waterbars, place surge and #57 stone, place 330 LF geoweb, new construction of 85 feet, seed and mulch. Trail location: From Blue Ridge GA go 4 miles north on Hwy 5, then about 10 miles west on old GA Hwy 2. Turn left onto FS64 and go 6 miles to the upper trailhead. Task 2. Cooper Creek trail system, 5.5 miles. Work consists of 29,040 feet of trail restoration with logging out, and removal of 55 hazard trees. Trail location: From Blue Ridge GA go east on US Hwy 76. Take US 60 south for 15.5 miles to Forest Service Road #4 on left. Go 5.7 miles to the Cooper Creek Campground. Task 3. Chattooga River Watershed System trails. Funding of $13,000 is available for maintenance on as many miles of trail as possible. Option for additional miles if funding becomes available. Trails have been maintained with volunteers and contractors over the last two years, so this is expected to be light maintenance. Trails are in the Rabun County / Habersham County area.
