Dental Hygienist

Correctional Service Canada has a requirement to provide dental hygienist services, which includes dental hygiene services(cleaning and scaling), incorporate ongoing evaluation by recording and updating relevant findings on the client’s dental record(provided by CSC) for the contract dentist to review.

Services are to be delivered to offenders under supervision at Collins Bay Institution (Medium Security), Frontenac Institution(Minimum Security) and Portsmouth Community Correctional Centre. Services will be delivered through and at Collins Bay Institution.

The contractor will provide up to a maximum of 416 hours of dental hygienist services per year in accordance with generally accepted professional standards.

Services will include/but are not be limited to: provide health teaching as appropriate in regards to proper oral hygiene practices and techniques; question and take action regarding policies and procedures inconsistent with desired client outcomes; dental hygienist will provide services independently without a dentist on site.

The dental hygienist must be registered and in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario and must possess a minimum of two years experience providing dental hygiene services.

The contract period will run from approximately August 11, 2008 to August 10, 2011, with an option to renew annually for up to 2 additional years.
