SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT
II.1) DESCRIPTION

II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): This will be a
restricted fixed price RIAI contract (with quantities). Documentation in
relation to this notice is atttached and must be received in a sealed
envelope, addressed to the Project Office, National Maternity Hospital, by
12:00 on 11.8.2008. Shortlisted candidates will be informed before the end
of August 2008 and tenders will be accepted up to Monday 6.10.2008. The
works include the adaptation, conservation, alteration, extension and
associated services and site works to 58-61 Lower Mount Street, Dublin 2
(4 No. protected structures - an area of circa 1 600 m²) to provide
consulting suites, administrative offices and a fertility clinic.
The project will also include the reinstatement of the existing lift and
the erection of a new glass lift to the rear of the premises.
Refurbishment works to the properties will include providing horizontal
linkages at all levels between the 4 buildings, the demolition of a 2
storey return, conservation, repair and restoration of joinery, windows
and plasterwork, adaptation and sub-division of internal rooms, structural
upgrading of timber floors and wall ties, reinstatement of 2 hall doors,
and external repair work. The 4 buildings are listed as protected
structures.
The extension to the rear of the buildings will be done in conjunction
with a nominated specialist contractor. This extension will be a temporary
modular building which includes Grade C clean room/laboratory. This
facility will be used as a fertility clinic laboratory and will link back
to the existing building at 2 points - basement entrance and lift. (an
area of circa 200 m²).
The contracting authority has appointed a PSDP.
