Expressions of interest

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received financing from International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of the Urban Water Supply & Sanitation Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services. The services include:

Well inventory works for wells in Addis Ababa area and its vicinity.

The main objective of the consultancy service is to:

• Carry out inventory of all boreholes existing in the capital and its vicinity
• Understand the daily production of each well.
• Know owners' daily demand.
• Quantify surplus water that is unexploited
• Examine the suitability of the water from each well for drinking.
• Systematic naming and coding of the wells.
• Investigate possible legal ways for AAWSA to use the surplus water and
supply the water for adjacently living low income areas
• Discuss and present the out put with AAWSA

The general areas of expertise include, but not limited to:

o Project Coordinator
o GIS Expert
o Legal Advisor
o Hydrogeologist
o Sociologist
o Environmentalist
o Water Supply Technician
o Accountant/Secretary
o Water quality Technician
o Welder

The AAWSA- Water and Sanitation Development and Rehabilitation Project Office now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications. The consultancy service invites all interested International/Regional qualified experts.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004 edition revised October 1, 2006).

Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours from 8: 30 till 17:30 hours local time.

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below on August 8, 2008, 10:30 a.m. local time and should be submitted in a plain sealed envelope clearly marked:
