Invitation for Expression of Interest for the Technical Assistance Program of West Delta Water Conservation and Irrigation Rehabilitation Project (WDWCIRP)
Deadline for submission: August 17th 2008 Time : 12:00 pm CLT

MWRI invites interested eligible consulting firms to submit expression of interest in Market-Driven Technical Support to Small and Medium Scale Farmers in the (WDWCIRP) project area. The technical assistance (TA) program aims at improving competitiveness and market access for small medium size growers through: (i) cooperative arrangements to achieve economies of scale; (ii) on-farm water efficient technology demonstrations; (iii) irrigation advisory and production support services to improve productivity …etc. The project area is about 190,000 feddans located in the southern portion of the West Delta area.

The MWRI has received a grant of 1.5 € Million from the French Development Agency (AFD) for implementing the program. The Technical Assistance Report issued in November 2007 and other related information about the project are available in the MWRI home page with the following link (http://www.mwri.gov.eg/wdip).

The pre-selection step will be based on the following criteria: (a) Experience in fresh fruit and vegetable agriculture technologies and marketing, (b) Experience in irrigated agriculture using modern irrigation technology (sprinkler and drip), (c) Experience in development and support of professional institutions providing collective agricultural services to growers and private demand oriented services delivery, (d) Financial capacity of the firm, and (e) Preferred, experience in international donors funds management.
Interested consulting firms should submit/send their expression of interest supported by a set of documents to the MWRI summarizing their references to respond to these criteria.
