REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST FOR CONSULTANT SERVICES

The Lao People’s Democratic Republic has received financing from the World Bank and grant cofinancing from the Policy and Human Resources Development Fund (PHRD) of Japan toward the cost of the Road Maintenance Program (Phase 2) Project, and intends to apply part of the grant proceeds for consultant services. The services would strengthen the capacity of the transport sector in road management, service delivery, road construction, engineering consulting, and road transport industry , through the following component:

Component B.3.5. Strengthening of Service Delivery in the Transport Sector Industry: Advisor(s) (international experience) and Supplementary Advisor(s) (national experience) will be appointed to develop a strategy, and implement and monitor an action plan, for strengthening the road transport industry. About 16 person-months of service input over a period of about 8 calendar months. The services are expected to commence in September 2008.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).

A consulting firm will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (the version May 2004).

Interested consulting firms may obtain further information at the address below during office hours 08.00 - 16.00 hours. Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by or before 16.00 hours (local time) of 24 July 2008.
