HPLC Mass Spectrometer for the UCL Institute of Hepatology.

II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): An ultra high
resolution (>40,000 FWHM) and sensitivity (amol on column sensitivity)
Tandem Mass Spectrometer is required. The system should be capable of
quantitative/comparative and top-down proteomics. The system should be
compatible with most commercial HPLC systems. The mass spectrometer should
ideally be equipped with an ion mobility interface under the full control
of the acquisition software. The mass spectrometer must enable a variety
of powerful scan functions to be performed, including MS/MS and MSn
(n=1-5) using different ion fragmentation modes. The instrumentation must
be capable of stable operation, and rapid switching (<100ms) between
positive and negative ion modes. The mass spectrometer should be capable
of better than 5ppm mass accuracy with external calibration over at least
three orders of magnitude dynamic range.
