SENIOR IMPLEMENTATION COORDINATOR IN SUPPORT OF THE PRIMARY CARE
RENEWAL INITIATIVE FOR DND, OTTAWA, ONTARIO
The provision of primary health care to Canadian Forces (CF)
members in a consistent manner has been a driving force behind
many reforms undertaken through the Rx2000 program of the
Department of National Defence (DND). A major initiative
developed under the direction of Project Rx2000 is the Primary
Care Renewal Initiative (PCRI) - the new clinic concept. In
years past, the Canadian Forces PCRI used a highly consultative
approach to develop a clinic model for delivery of in-garrison
care that promotes continuity of care. This approach focuses on
long- term wellness and fosters an inter-disciplinary approach
to patient care for CF members. The PCRI clinic model is
similar to civilian primary care models, but ut has been adapted
to the unique requirements of the Canadian Forces. It address
the specific concerns relating to continuity of care such as the
regional inconsistencies in the levels of service, timelines,
and access to care, and the manner in which health care has been
delivered. As a result of the PCRI, health care delivery to CF
members will attain a high degree of standardization across all
CF clinics, with an emphasis on high quality care. CF members
will have access to a comprehensive selection of primary health
care services in a manner that facilitates one-stop shopping and
that is, relatively, consistent from clinic to clinic. They
will also be given greater direct access to certain providers
such as pharmacies and physiotherapists. In order to support
the implementation of the PCRI, DND requires the services of an
Implementation Coordinator who will assist with the roll-out of
the Primary Care Renewal Initiative. The contract shall be for
the period from contract award up to and including March 31,
2010.
