The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a requirement for ongoing maintenance for a total of 164 SSA-owned Canon model 5570/5055 photocopiers installed in SSA field offices across the country and in SSA's Woodlawn, MD headquarters complex. SSA intends to negotiate and award a contract for the agency's ongoing Canon maintenance requirements with Canon U.S.A., Incorporated, Government Marketing Division, 2110 Washington Boulevard, Arlington VA 22204 using FAR 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. The contract will be a follow-on to SSA BPA SS00-05-40028, which SSA awarded to Canon U.S.A on September 29, 2005 using Canon U.S.A. then-current GSA schedule contract GS-25F-0023M under which SSA purchased and maintained the Canon copiers now to be maintained under the new contract. The contractor will maintain all equipment, will provide on site response within nine working hours, restore equipment to full operation within 24 working hours or provide replacement equipment, and guarantee replacement parts and supplier for the copiers will be available for the term of the contract. The contract's period of performance will be one year from date of award, with two option years. SSA will not issue a solicitation. SSA will not respond to requests for solicitation copies and will not pay for information received in response to this announcement. Responses must provide sufficient information for SSA to determine that a firm other than Canon U.S.A can provide nationwide maintenance services for Canon copiers as described above. If SSA does not receive an acceptable response to this announcement within 15 days of its publication, it will negotiate a contract with Canon U.S.A. See Numbered Note #22, substituting (per FAR 5.203(a) and 12.204(b)) a response time of 15 days for this acquisition of a commercial item for the forty-five day response time appearing in the note.
