NASA/LaRC has a requirement for five (5) Laser Diode Arrays with lenses and five(5) Laser Diode Arrays without lenses in accordance with the attached specifications. The laser diode arrays MUST be of the hard solder type in order to conduct testing fordurability and reliability for future space missions. These laser diode arrays will befully characterized and their performance will be compared with the existing laser diodedevices at Langley Research Center (LaRC). The results of these measurements will aid ina rigorous comparative evaluation of all laser diodes to identify the best suited andmost reliable devices for future laser and lidar space missions. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are beingrequested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to usethe On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above orit may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the SimplifiedAcquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13.Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred)no later than 8 July 2008. Prospective quoters shall notify this office of their intentto submit a quotation. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for therelease of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloadingtheir own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any).An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".Any referenced notes may be viewed at the following URLs link below.

THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 01 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR HARDSOLDER LASER DIODE ARRAYS. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote.This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a writtenamendment will not be issued.The purpose of this amendment is to Respond to vendor technical questions. Revisedspecifications are attached to reflect these responses. Additionally, this amendmentcorrects the Jenoptik part number for the laser diode arrays without lenses toJOLD900Q3A. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to 17 July 2008. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASAAcquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on 1 July 2008.
