DETAILED DESIGNS, PREPARATION OF TENDER DOCUMENTS AND CONSTRUCTION SUPERVISION OF WATER SUPPLY WORKS FOR VWAWA AND TUNDUMA SMALL TOWN

1. This request for expressions of interest follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in the United Nations Development Business, under notice no.WB320-696/07 of 17th January, 2007.

2. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and development Partners has set aside funds for the implementation of the Water Sector Development Program (WSDP). It is intended that part of the funds will be applied to cover eligible payments under the contract for Provision of Consultancy Services for Detailed Engineering Design, Preparation of Tender Documents, and Construction Supervision of Works for Water Supply and Sewerage in Mbeya City and Detailed Designs, Preparation of Tender Documents and Construction Supervision of Water Supply Works for Vwawa and Tunduma Small Town.

3. The services to be carried out by the consultants for the Water System will include designing of the water supply to extend the gravity main to the new developing areas, design pumping main, clarifiers (Settling tank) at Mfwizimo water source for water treatment and sewerage system that will increase the coverage. The services will also include rehabilitation and expansion of water supply system of the small towns of Vwawa and Tunduma.

4. The Mbeya Urban Water and Sewerage Authority Tender Board now invite eligible consultants to express their interest in providing the above services. Interested firms must submit information indicating that they are qualified and capable of performing the services. 5. A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: “Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers” dated May 2004; Revised October 2006.

6. This is not a request for proposals. After review of the expressions of interest, a shortlist will be prepared and those short-listed Consultants will be invited to submit their proposals (technical and financial) through a letter of invitation including the terms of reference for the consultancy services.

7. Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours from 8:00 to 15:30 hours on Mondays to Fridays inclusive, except on public holidays.

8. Expressions of Interest in a sealed envelope clearly marked TENDER NO. MBEYA-UWSA WSDP/2008/2009/01 for the Expression of Interest for the Provision of Consultancy Services for Detailed Engineering Design, Preparation of Tender Documents, and Construction Supervision of Works for Water Supply and Sewerage in Mbeya City and Detailed Designs, Preparation of Tender Documents and Construction Supervision of Water Supply Works for Vwawa and Tunduma Small Town must be delivered to the address below by 10:00 hours local time on Wednesday, 30th July, 2008.
