Expressions of interest

The Federal Government of Ethiopia has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for Gondar town water supply project consultant services. The service include identification of new water source, Feasibility study, detail design, contract administration and construction supervision. The services are provided in phases as specified below:
Phase I
Among others, the consultant shall conduct hydrological, hydro-geological and geophysical investigation, select sites for surface water development, water well drilling and Design and Supervision of associated works, i.e. drilling, construction of wells, testing, selection and installation of electro mechanical equipments. Review exiting boreholes and identify method of rehabilitation to improve their yield, identify and prepare specification for replacement and maintenance of existing electro mechanical equipments of existing boreholes.
Phase II
The consultant shall review existing water distribution system of the town for upgrading of pipe lines (diameter/length), identify pressure zones , assess and the requirement of additional reservoirs. Prepare specification for the replacement of pipes and fittings. Conduct feasibility study by considering different alternatives, if any, which will have possibility of different source types and configurations of water supply system Prepare detail design of new water supply distribution system using the best alternative source identified above, prepare bill of quantities, specification, Drawing albums and tender document. Carry out construction supervision of water supply distribution system

Gondar Town Water Supply and Sewerage Service now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (May 2004), Revised October 2006).
