The Precision Engineering Div. at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement to conduct topography analysis of fired bullets and develop correlation criteria for producing optimized matches of topography images of fullets for applications in forensic science. The specific tasks pursuant to this initiative are described in the Performance Work Statement included in the solicitation. It is anticipated that the solicitation for this work will be issued on or about July 1, 2008, using FAR Part 12, Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The Government anticipates the award of a fixed price Purchase Order on or about July 25, 2008 with a 12-mo. performance period. The competitive solicitation, all amendments, and any questions and answers related to this procurement will be made available via the internet at http://www.fedbizopps.gov. The solicitation will only be available via the internet at the above website. Potential offerors are responsible for accessing the website. Interested parties must respond to the solicitation in order to be considered for award of any resultant Purchase Order. There is no written solicitation document available, telephone requests will not be honored, and no bidders list will be maintained.
