Invitation for Bids (IFB)

1. This Invitation for bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, issue No. 639 of 30th September 2004.
1. The Republic of Yemen has received a loan from the International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of Groundwater and Soil Conservation Project and intends to apply part of the funds to cover eligible payments under the Contract for Construction of Spate Diversion Weir at Al Sharifeyah - Wadi Siham - Al Maraw'ah District, Al Hodeidah Governorate.

Bidding is open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits.

2. The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation represented by the Groundwater and Soil Conservation Project invites sealed bids from eligible bidders for the construction of Spate Diversion Weir at Al Sharifeyah - Wadi Siham - Al Maraw'ah District, Al Hodeidah Governorate.

3. Bidding will be processed by International Competitive Bidding procedures and documents (and additional copies) in English language may be purchased at the address given below for a nonrefundable fee of YER 20,000 or its equivalent in exchangeable international currency or its equivalent in a freely-convertible currency, for each set. Interested bidders may obtain further information at the same address.

4. Bidders must fill all the documents and sign and seal them, where appropriate.
5. Contractors shall be entirely responsible for all taxes imposed in the Republic of Yemen until completion of all works.

6. Bids shall be valid for a period of 90 days after. Bid opening and must be accompanied by security of not less than two (2) percent of the bid price in the currency of the bid or its equivalent in a convertible currency, valid for 120 days from the bid opening date. and shall be delivered to the address given blow before or at 11.00 a.m. on 25th August 2008, by which time they will be opened in the presence of the bidders who wish to attend.
