REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
CONSULTANT SERVICES RELATED TO THE CONVENING OF A ROADMAPPING WORKSHOP ON GEOTHERMAL DEVELOPMENT NEEDS

TF No. TF057268
Project ID No P075046

Expressions of Interest

The International Geothermal Association has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the implementation of region wide technical assistance as part of the Geothermal Energy Development Program (GeoFund), and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consultant services described below (Objectives and Scope) related to the convening of a roadmapping workshop on geothermal development needs.

Objectives

The consultant selected will be tasked with convening a two day workshop (road mapping session) to be held under the auspices of the IGA Education and Information Committees. The road mapping workshop will bring together regional as well as international experts in geothermal risk mitigation, barrier removal, financing and provision of technical assistance. The out come of such a workshop will be a detailed list of recommendations on how real and perceived risks of geothermal exploration and/or reservoir confirmation drilling can be mitigated, how best to remove legal institutional and legal barriers, how to provide necessary financial incentives and steps that must be taken to implement the recommendations.

Scope

The consultant will work with the IGA Education and Information Committees to plan and convene the proposed road mapping workshop. The consultant will, to the best of its ability, attempt to organize the road mapping workshop before the end of September 2008. The consultant selected will be responsible for all logistical support issues including arranging for the workshop facilities, audio visual equipment, registration, booking of hotels etc. The consultant will also be responsible for, in conjunction with the two afore mentioned IGA Committees, inviting all workshop participants. Finally and extremely important will be the selection of the moderator. Such person should have extensive experience in moderating such events and it would be extremely beneficial if such person has a working knowledge of geothermal energy developments or at a minimum a working knowledge of renewable energy development. Approval of the individual nominated by the consultant will be the sole responsibility of the two IGA Committees.

It is envisioned that 2-3 person months will be required to organize and convene the Workshop.

The International Geothermal Association now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the Consultants Qualification (CQ) procedures set out in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers (current edition).

Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office hours (09.00 to 17.00).

Expressions of interest must be delivered to the address below by 15 July 2008.
