Methadone Maintenance Program Services

Correctional Service Canada has a requirement to provide methadone maintenance program services to federally sentenced offenders residing at the Portsmouth Community Correctional Centre, located in Kingston, Ontario.

Services will include but are not limited to scheduling/providing required clinical services related to issuing/dispensing methadone to clients, conducting urinalysis testing, providing weekly progress reports and providing counselling sessions.

The Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program shall adhere to the standards, guidelines and regulations as outlined by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Correctional Service Canada estimates the anticipated usage requirement to be approximately two to three offenders per month.

The supplier must have a licenced methadone physician on staff. The methadone physician must be registered and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and must possess a specialized licence (prescription and maintenance of methadone) from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The supplier must have a minimum of 2 years experience in managing a methadone program and 2 years experience in the treatment of opiate addiction.

The contract period will run from approximately September 1, 2008 to August 31, 2011, with an option to renew annually for up to 2 additional years.
