SECTION II: OBJECT OF THE CONTRACT
II.1) DESCRIPTION
II.1.1) Title attributed to the contract by the contracting authority:
Provision of a Primary Medical Care GP Out of Hours Cover.
II.1.2) Type of contract and location of works, place of delivery or of
performance: Services.
Service category: No 25.
Main place of performance: Oxfordshire (specifically the geographical
service boundaries of Oxfordshire Primary Care Trust).
NUTS code: UKJ14.
II.1.3) The notice involves: A public contract.
II.1.5) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): It is envisaged
that the PCT will contract with the successful bidder, over a period of
upto 5 years (based upon a 3-year contract with the potential to extend
for a further 2 years in 12 monthly increments), for the provision of
Primary Medical GP Out of Hours Cover for the whole of Oxfordshire.
The service will operate 7 days a week from 23:00 through 8:00, inclusive
of Bank Holiday night cover.
Telephone calls, routed to the service by a 3rd-party call handling
organisation, will allow a GP to respond with either telephone or
face-to-face advice. Normally face-to-face advice is given by means of an
appointment at the service’s PCT provided clinics. The service, must
however, be able to provide home visits too.
The GP will prescribe and provide medication where required, which, due to
the hours of the operation must be provided via the GP.
Existing services are currently undertaken by 3 organisations, 1 of which
is the PCT itself. 1 service operates in the North of Oxfordshire, another
in the City of Oxford and the 3rd in the South of Oxfordshire.
The Trust is seeking to procure a single service to replace the 3 existing
services.
It is intended that the new service would start on 1.11.2008.
Please note that the values quoted in this notice are for a full, 5-year,
contract term and are based upon per annum estimates.

II.3) DURATION OF THE CONTRACT OR TIME-LIMIT FOR COMPLETION: Duration in
months: 60 (from the award of the contract).

Buyer Attachments” in the “Actions” box.
