II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Under the Ten
Year Childcare Strategy, Kent County Council (KCC) is charged with
developing "sustainable childcare markets". In Kent we already enjoy a
thriving childcare market, which is significantly contributed to by over 1
750 childminders. In liaison with relevant partners, KCC is inviting
expressions of interest for up to six tenders to promote and support the
development of childcare provision with childminders in Kent, which would
critically involve stimulating the market to generate new childminding
provision where gaps in this have been identified supporting the
development of new provision providing advice, support and training to
childminders in relation to sound business and financial practice ensuring
that childminding provision as appropriate and necessary is an integral
and inseparable part of the Children's Centre agenda (By 2010 Kent
anticipates having approximately 105 Children's Centres) working
tirelessly to ensure that the quality of care and learning available from
childminders is uncompromisingly high, through advice, support, training
and quality assurance This work will involve strategic thinking and
planning, working with a wide range of partners, sound business planning
and implementation and the monitoring and evaluation of outcomes. This
opportunity is for a three-year contract (4.2008-3.2011). The tenders will
cover the following six areas in Kent, as follows: Swanley and Sevenoaks
Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone Dartford and Gravesham Ashford and Shepway
Swale and Canterbury Thanet and Dover Applications for more than one
geographically aligned area are particularly welcome and favourable
Education services.
