1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business, Issue No. 721 that appeared on 29th February, 2008.

2. Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received grants from various donors toward the cost of Health Sector Development Program, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this grant to payments under the Contract for Supply of contraceptives.

3. The Ministerial Tender Board now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for supply of the above as follows:

3 Levonorgestrol 0.03 mg 800,000 cycles

Bidders may bid for any one or more items. Bids will be evaluated for each item and the Contract will comprise the item(s) awarded to the successful bidder.

4. Bidding will be conducted through the international competitive bidding procedures specified in the World Bank’s Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and are open to all bidders from eligible source countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information and inspect the bidding documents from Monday to Friday between 8.00am and 3.30 p.m exclusive of public holidays at the office of:

6. A complete set of bidding documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the above address upon payment of a nonrefundable fee of USD 50 (Fifty United States Dollar) or in cash or its Tshs. 52,000 (Tshs. Fifty Two Thousand Only). Payments should be made either by Banker’s Draft, cash or Banker’s cheque payable to the Medical Stores Department, P. O. Box 9081, Dar-es-Salaam. Alternatively, interested bidders may view the tender document in the website (www.msd.or.tz) and submit a written application to the given address. When the alternative means is used, the above non-refundable fee should be included in the bidding document.

7. Bids must be delivered to the address below, at or before Thursday 31st July, 2008 at 0900 HOURS LOCAL TIME. Envelopes shall bear the words: “IFB NO IE-009/2007-08/HQ/G/19. DO NOT OPEN BEFORE THURSDAY 31ST JULY, 2008 AT 0900 HOURS LOCAL TIME”
