Physician Services For VAC District Office, Halifax, Nova Scotia:
To Provide a District Medical Officer(s) for Veterans Affairs
Canada, Halifax District Office, Nova Scotia for the period 1
September 2008 up to and including March 31, 2009 with the
option to renew for 2 additional 12 month periods. Work shall
include conducting medical examinations and other duties in
accordance with the scope of work as detailed in the
solicitation document for pensioners and applicants of pension
for the Veterans Affairs Canada in Nova Scotia. This includes
Halifax/Dartmouth and also all other areas of Nova Scotia. The
examinations required fall into one of three categories namely,
New Entitlement, Complaints and Reviews. The first two
categories require an immediate examination and a report. The
third will be done as time permits. Work shall be performed on
site at the Halifax District Office or at the office of the
physician. The work shall also include providing advice to the
District Director on medical matters relating to the eligibility
and care of Veterans; attending and participating at all weekly
District Health Care Team meetings to provide consultation on
medical issues, being available to provide consultation (in
terms of medical or mental health issues) in order to respond to
urgent medical situations relating to veteran care needs;
establishing contacts with physicians via Paramedical Support
Clerk to obtain medical reports and other related information
required to make expeditious recommendations on health care
needs of Veterans; providing advice on the application of the
transfer agreements respecting Departmental contract beds when
applicable and attending hospital liaison committees and Medical
Advisory Committees to provide advice on veterans care;
providing consultation and advice to the Regional Medical
Officer in order to facilitate care plans for veterans requiring
regional or central administrative interaction and on all
medical concerns at the district level; etc. It is estimated
that the total number of examinations/procedures required during
the contract period will be spread evenly over the period, or
there is considerable flexibility for the physician to set the
hours of availability. Either full time or on a part time basis.


This PWGSC office provides procurement services in English to
the public.

The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any
procurement.
