Credit Checking Services for Ontario Student Assistance Program Applicants

The Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities requires a company to provide credit checking services for Ontario Student Assistance Program applicants.

Project Requirements:

·Conducting credit checks of all individuals (OSAP applicants) identified by the ministry
·Reporting back to the ministry pass/fail status of all credit checked applicants
·Providing the ministry with periodic reports on the number of credit checks undertaken and the number of credit check failures.
·Providing to the ministry upon request, a copy of credit reports for individuals who fail the credit check. (For OSAP applicants who fail the credit check and file an appeal with the ministry, the ministry may require a copy of their credit bureau report.)
·Responding to inquires from ministry staff regarding credit reports and credit checking criteria.

Project Deliverables

The successful Proponent shall be required to report to the Ministry within two business days, the credit status of all OSAP applicants sent to the successful Proponent by the Ministry who meet the credit checking criteria developed by the Ministry. For individuals who fail the credit check and file an appeal with the Ministry, the successful Proponent shall upon request provide the Ministry with a copy of the individual’s credit report. The report should be provided no later than two weeks after the request is made.
