II.1.4) Short description of the contract or purchase(s): Walsall Council
wishes to invite expressions of interest from organisations interested in
being host to a Local Involvement Network (LINk) as proposed under the
Local Government and Public Involvement Bill introduced to Parliament in
December 2006. Walsall Council, as a local authority with social services
responsibilities, has a statutory duty to make contractual arrangements
with a host organisation. The host organisation will be responsible for
the establishment, maintenance and support of a LINk in Walsall to carry
out the following activities:
- Promoting and supporting the involvement of people in the commissioning,
provision and scrutiny of local health and social care services;
— Enabling people to monitor and review the commissioning and provision of
care services,
— Obtaining the views of people about their needs for, and their
experiences of local health and social care services,
— Presenting people’s views to those people responsible for health and
social care services, as well as making reports and recommendations on how
services can be improved,
— Involving existing networks and consultation mechanisms in the operation
of the LINk. The Council is seeking expressions of interest in
organisations which are well versed in providing management support to
organisations, community development, networking, and market research for
care services and have links to a wide range of organisations and
communities.
