Invitation to Bid Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) Technical Development Department (TDD) CULTURAL HERITAGE TOURISM AND URBAN DEVELOPMENTPROJECT P0818234 LOAN IBRD 7426-JO Rehabilitation& Upgrading of Pivotal Spaces (Remodeling Of Salt Great Mosque #Salt) The Government of theHashemite Kingdom of Jordan has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and UrbanDevelopment Project (CHTUDP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds toward paymentsunder the contract forthe Rehabilitation of Salt Great Mosque. Thisinvitation for bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in United Nations DevelopmentBusiness and World Bank DgMarket on December 5, 2006. The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) now invites sealed bidsfrom qualified eligible bidders to remodel, renovate and rehabilitate the Salt Great Mosque and directorate Awqaf complex. The work includes converting the existing commercial ground floor into a praying hall,keeping only the frontal row of shops, dismantling the existing pre - fab minaret and constructing a new stone one, demolishing theexisting dome and constructing a new one at another grid with a common vertical double space between ground and firstfloors. The construction period is a 600 calendar daywith implementation period starting in July 2008. Bidding will be conducted through the National Competitive Bidding procedure asspecified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, (current edition), and is open to all eligible bidders as defined in theguidelines. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from and inspect the bidding documents from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities (MoTA) at the address below duringoffice hours: (08:00 to 15:00). A complete set of bidding documents in English may bepurchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written application to the address below and upon payment of a nonrefundablefee of JD200 per set and for inspection at www.tourism.jo. Possible additionalinformation or clarifications/questions shall be published on the www.tourism.jo. The qualification criteria established in the Bidding Documents include: - General experience (equivalent toFirst and Second Class Building Contractors) - Successful specific experiencewithin the last five years as prime contractor of at least two works contracts (to comply with these requirements, works shall beat least 70% complete) of a nature and complexity equivalent to the Works under bidding with at least one of a value not less thanJD 2.0 million. - A Construction Site Manager withtwelve years experience in works of an equivalent nature and volume including no less than seven years asManager. - Financial status of the firmconsidering the annual turnovers for the last five years. - liquid assets and/or credit facilities of no less than JD500,000(or US$0.7 million the equivalent in US$). Interest eligible biddersor theirofficial representatives are invited to attend a pre-bid meeting thatwill take place at 10:00AM on May 28, 2008 at the Municipality of Salt (CityHall). All bids must be accompanied by a bid security of JD 50, 000, and be delivered to the address below bynoon (12:00AM) on June 18, 2007.
