Distribution System Reinforcement Project for Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Kilimanjaro

This invitation for bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Buisness, issue no. 710 of 16 September 2007.

The Government of the Republic of Tanzania has applied for credits from the International Development Association (IDA), the Nordic Development Fund (NDF) and the African Development Bank (AfDB) toward the cost of the Tanzania Energy Development and Access Expansion Project (TEDAP), and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of these credits to payments under the contract for

33/11 kV Distribution System Reinforcement Project for Dar es Salaam, Arusha and Kilimanjaro.

Purchaser will be the Tanzania Electric Supply Company Ltd. (TANESCO).

Manufacturers and suppliers with experience in similar rehabilitation projects in this region can apply for bid-ding documents.

Having branch offices in the region providing supplies and customer services would be an asset.

Interested manufacturers and suppliers are requested to demonstrate their suitability for the assignment by submitting together with their bid documents proving that:

• The firm is a qualified manufacturer/supplier of the required materials and equipment and has the finan-cial, technical as well as production and supply capacities to perform the advertised work,
• The firm has at least ten (10) years of experience in the manufacture of the offered material and equip-ment (attach documentary evidence),
• Material and equipment have at least five (5) years of safe operation,
• The firm has been awarded a valid ISO 9001/9002 certificate.

The applicant shall provide balance sheets for the last five (5) years which shall be audited by a certified ac-countant.

Lot 1: Supply and Installation of Plant and Equipment for Six New 33/11 kV Substations in Dar es Sa-laam

Bidders have to bid for one or more complete lot(s). Bidders also have the possibility to bid for one or com-binations of the four (4) lots.
